Hi! I'm Hannah the baker.
I have been baking bread for over 15 years now. I started with yeast recipes and honed my skills using the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day method. I discovered that baking bread was a form of stress relief and an escape from my busy days of being a wife, mom, and librarian.
Eventually I decided to attempt sourdough. In May 2018, I grew a sourdough starter from scratch while living in my grandparents' 50-year-old farmhouse. The magic of that old farmhouse became part of the starter and made him strong and flavorful. I followed King Arthur Flour's sourdough starter instructions and used rye flour as the base.
My starter, dubbed Thanos by my then 11-year-old and 9-year-old sons, has baked 100s of loaves of bread. He regularly feeds my family pizza, calzones, biscuit-topped chicken pot pie, cinnamon rolls, chocolate cake, bagels, blueberry muffins, waffles, and pancakes. And now I'm excited to share Thanos-powered breads with all of you!
